Energized and Connected

Nettie loved her family and was excited about their visit. She got all dressed for the occasion although by then she was often in pain and spending most of the time in bed.  The conversation quickly turned to politics, one of her favorite topics, but this afternoon she got more and more quiet. I recognized her withdrawal and requested, “Tell us stories about your favorite family memories.” She perked up immediately and was energized and involved for another hour - smiling and animated the whole time.  Her stories were sweet and memorable. This was the last visit before she died. Joan

Found Peace at End-of-Life

The day before she died she fell asleep, and never awakened. I knew we were at peace because of all she had told me that last week. Nancy

Shifted our Relationship

I visited my father every Wednesday and with each conversation I learned something else about him. Through those conversations I got to have a father - a different one. Before, I had only seen him as a drunk and burden; now, I started to see my father in a different light. Pam

Reunited After Decades
